BBSO Solar Activity Warning 23-JUL-2002 17:36:58 UT
NOAA 0039, S12E59 (Solar X = -793", Solar Y = -238" at 07/23/15:00 UT) produced a major flare today (X4.8/2b at 07/23/00:35 UT). The flare was located within the northern portion of the large leading penumbra where a strong magnetic delta configuration with an E-W neutral line is located. Another major flare is expected.
