Snow rollers

Beitrag von Michael Ellestad » 13. Feb 2003, 04:09

Hello halo observors,

Normally I post halo events I have observed but today I observed a strange event at my house: I was walking on the hill and notices some snow balls and their tracks and I thought of the wind we had that night and it dawned out on me that those were snow rollers!!! I have never seen them and I got a couple pics for those who are interested.

Anyone ever seen snow rollers in Germany?

Best,
Michael

Hi Michael,

The snow rollers were shown at Dutch tv ( RTL 4 ) tonight. the weatherman said it was a rarity, these snowballs: a combination of strong wind ( 7 a 8 Bft ) and zero degrees Celcius....
I would like a picture!

Best regards,

Marjorie

Hello Michael,

great photo you've got!

Last year (or is it 2 year ago?) I've seen "snow rollers" here in Germany near Goerlitz on a field. That was very strange for me. I've never seen it befor. But I've no pictures.
