Updated: 21:50 UTC 14 October (5:50 pm EDT, 14 October):

Geomagnetic and auroral activity intensified to fairly strong storm levels over
Europe during the last 6 hours, resulting in brief periods of visible auroral activity
from locations as far south as central Germany. Periods of moderately strong
substorm activity will remain possible over the next several hours. However, a
slight subsiding trend is expected over the next 12 hours. Significant
wide-spread middle latitude observations of auroral activity are NOT anticipated
for North America. However, activity should be sporadically strong enough to
be observed from the northern tier of the United States under dark skies,
despite the strong phase of the moon and the interference it will impose. A
middle latitude aurora watch is currently active. We do not believe conditions
will remain strong enough long enough to justify a warning. However, if
conditions warrant, there is a chance a mid-latitude warning may be issued.
