Hi all
This is a cloud cover forecast for the Netherlands for to-nite.
It was made by Jacob Kuiper, senior meteorologist of the KNMI (dutch meteorologic institute) at 16H local (14 UT).
He gave it through the telephone and the text below is my transcript.
Over the east of the Netherlands a thick Cirrus cover will stay there all night.
From the north west at 5000 feet a cover of strato Cumulus is slowly moving in over the North Sea. The north west region near Den Helder will be first covered by these clouds in the middle of the evening. There is some indication that these clouds might dissappear while moving in.
Meanwhile during the evening the high Cirrus clouds from the east will start covering the northern part of the Netherlands also.
Early in the evening the lower parts of the province North Holland (That is region north of Amsterdam) will be clear but the low northern horizon will be covered with clouds.
During the evening the south east and south west of the Netherlands will be fine. As the night goes on, cloud cover will most probable grow but parts of middle Netherlands will stay cloudles.
According to Jacob the best location for all the night will be the region between Bieschbosch and Betuwe. This basically is the line between Dordrecht (51.8N 4.6E)(near Rotterdam) to Arnhem/Nijmegen (52N 6E).
There are some major highways here so I suggest buying a good roadmap. For German travellers I (Jan) suggest the region west of Nijmegen as a startpoint.
Ill try and post another weatherforecast just before I leave home myself, probably 21:30 local (19:30) UT.
Good luck and drive carefully

Danke für die Infos
Ich überlege noch, wohin ich fahre, aber ich warte erst mal ab, bis die Schockfront kommt. Kann dann ja auch sehr kurzfristig starten.
