da will man gerade den Bildschirm ausschlaten, da geht das Fenster auf, dass eine Neue Mail wegen Aktivität auf der Sonne da ist: Ein X1.8, Maximum wurde um 01:41 UTC erreicht. Sieht eher kurz aus, aber immerhin...

Also, with four M flares recently, I wouldn't be surprised when a few more smaller X flares and finally an X4 on Friday would occur (around 11: 19 local time).
Could be nice now, here we're under dark skies now while Norwegian aurora is sunlit all night.

Hallo Thomas!

Netter X Flare und im GOES SXI scheint man auch etwas nach Osten wegfliegen zu sehen, aber die aktuell eingetroffenen LASCO Bilder zeigen nichts. Aus der Position ist ein Treffer aber ohnehin nicht sonderlich effektiv.
Allerdings sehe ich bei dieser doch nicht wirklich kompakten Gruppe die Gefahr, dass die vielen Einzelspots einfach auseinanderdriften und der ganze Spaß schnell vorbei ist.
Schauen wir mal, was nach der heutigen Aktivität noch an Spannung übrig ist.

gerade habe ich in meinem Postfach den Astro Alert vom STD (diesmal wirklich ...) gefunden.

Ein CME scheint wohl nicht dabei gewesen zu sein, die Euphorie hält sich insgesamt in Grenzen, aber vielleicht legt 649 ja noch nach:

X-CLASS SOLAR FLARE ALERT

Active sunspot region 10649 had been relatively quiet since rotating
into view around the southeastern solar limb several days ago. But strong
x-ray emissions (emitted from hot coronal temperatures above the active
region) hinted that it might have the potential to produce energetic solar
activity. Until a few hours ago, the active region had only managed to
produce a few minor M-class x-ray flares. However, at 01:41 UTC on 15 July
(9:41 pm EDT), the region spawned a major class X1.8 solar flare.

The major flare was not terribly spectacular, except for the intensity
of the x-ray emissions. Radio emissions (which also give a signature of flare
energetics) were comparatively dismal. Interestingly, at the present time
the available data from the SOHO spacecraft seems to suggest that this event
might not have been associated with a coronal mass ejection. If this holds
true, then the Earth won't see any effects from this particular event.

Since this major flare occurred, a minor level of decay has occurred in
the region, but it is still complex enough to produce additional major
flares in the days ahead.

ähnlich stark und impulsiv...wohl wieder ohne CME...naja schade aber immerhin interessant anzusehen...den mal der Spot wird zwar noch einiges bringen aber keine größeren CME's
