Just a small message to express that I am very happy with the formula that you posted. It is humming through my mind and to me it feels like the first new thing on solar wind - aurora related information that has come to me since at least a year.
Figuring out theta might take me a few months before I see a running 4D picture in my mind, but the idea that such a simple modell exists, is just great.

It emphasizes my feeling that the upcoming solar minimum might be at least as or even more more thrilling than the solar max we have experienced recently.

Said that, I'd like to say also that this forum has been a good part of my joy in digging into cycle 23 thus far. Thanks !
