Northern lights In southern Ohio (USA)

Hello,

This the first time I post in the aurora forum. Normally I am in the general forum but the reason why I am doing a post in this forum is because I got to for the FIRST time photograph my first Northern lights display. I was on the internet surfing around and I got offline and got ready for bed then a strange glow gets my attention. I took a good look out the window and lo and behold it was the Northern lights!! I quicky got my Nikon D-100 onto my tripod and pointed the lens out the window and for next hour I would shoot pics showing solid green curtains with upper red fringes then later on It got real intense when the red and green showed blue and violet in between the red and green. I kept shooting til my battery went dead but the display was dwindling.

When I get a chance I will be resizing some of my images for my homepage and to email.


It was midnight yesterday when November 8th rolled around and I was glad I saw the Northern lights and better yet to photograph them:)


I wonder what kind of activity happened in Germany that night
