One location (approx 7km from Helsinki) is this - Malminkartano hill. There is good visibility to many directions of far horizon. But the light pollution is still there. If you are getting cold, there is lot of steps to walk up and down

If you are very lucky, and the auroral display is strong enough - there is lot to observe even under light pollution. I had seen most strongest auroras display ever, at Espoo in 17/18.3.2015 (the display lasted for the whole night). Below is link collecting sample photos of that day. From my own experience, it requires to go for more northern places, to redure amount of light pollution. Some areas at Nuuksio National park could be suitable, maybe not accessible fully by car. Could take some time to walk... Looking from the Nuuksio area, the most of the Helsinki light pollution is on the south-east direction. If you decide to go for Nuuksio area, I recommend to look some places in advance - at time of daylight.
I post this link again, since it is good to follow magnetic activity. The place named "Nurmijärvi" is most near to Helsinki. Column on right side displays activity. If shows red (with clear sky) you already should be outside with camera (or doing visual observation)
