Comment added at 06:10 UTC on September 25: A major M7.6 flare was observed at 04:40 UTC and was associated with a type II radio sweep and a likely CME. Further details on this event will be posted later today. Region 9628 produced an M1.8 flare peaking at 05:20 UTC.
The above 10 MeV proton flux has reached the 2200 pfu level.
Comment added at 11:22 UTC: The major M7 flare this morning was in region 9628. A CME was likely produced by this event, but with LASCO C3 images suffering badly under the effects of the current proton event, it is difficult to verify this. If there was a CME it will likely arrive on September 27 and prolong the geomagnetic storm related to the X2 flare on September 24.
An M2.0 flare peaked at 10:27 UTC.
The above 10 MeV proton flux has so far peaked at the 2500 pfu level, with the above 100 MeV flux having peaked at 30 pfu a few hours ago. Both fluxes could reach higher values at the onset of the expected geomagnetic storm.
M7.6 kommt am 27. September an
