Yes, what I am wondering is whether we at middle latitudes are benefitted with high solar wind speeds. I'd say our large scale events only happen with long duration higher particle densities so our inner van Allen belts are fuelled and after that a high Bz south field speeds them up.
I'd love to see a real good case study of the 2000 April 6/7 event.
What exactly happenned that night, and the days before ...?
