LAST UPDATE: 15 AUGUST 2002, 20:40 UTC (4:40 pm EDT 15 August):

A mild interplanetary shock was observed impacting the Earth's magnetosphere
near 18:55 UTC (2:55 pm EDT) on 15 August. Elevated solar wind parameters
are expected to produce continued unsettled to sporadically active auroral
conditions over the higher latitudes. There is also a slight chance some
middle latitudes may spot periods of isolated activity.
