FALSE AURORAS: They look like auroras, but they're not. Mike Sierra took this picture of strange orange lights over Anchorage, Alaska, on Nov. 20th. "I stepped outside at 6:30am and saw an icy fog moving in," says Mike. "The street lights were shining through the fog imitating auroras." Also known as light pillars, these false auroras are often seen from northern cities during winter.
