Latest Geomagnetic and Auroral Activity Conditions

IMPACT OBSERVED

Updated: 07:10 UTC 04 November (2:10 am EST, 04
November):

Impact of the anticipated coronal mass ejection was observed at the Earth at
06:27 UTC on 04 November, only 33 minutes off our predicted arrival time.
Solar wind velocities almost doubled together with densities. Major to possibly
brief severe storm conditions could be observed within the next 24 hours.

Solar Activity Update

Active Regions 486 and 488 (both of which have produced strong X-class flare
activity), are now crossing the western solar limb. They will be behind the limb
and out of view within the next 24 hours. This will end a two week flare storm of
remarkable and historic activity. Although it is possible these active centers
might survive the two week passage on the far side of the Sun back to the
eastern solar limb, it is unlikely that they will return in 2 weeks in a form as
volatile as we have been priviledged to witness.
