Hallo allerseits,
Zeitangaben sind in Pacific Daylight Time (d.h. UTC-7h), Genauigkeit <1 min.
15.53: Gespaltener Hauptbogen, linke Seite
Alex

Re: Gondelfahrt in den Gespaltenen Regenbogen
Hey Alex,
That is a nice catch of the twinned primary rainbow there. I have seen a few of them over the years but have not seen one in a long time. What I was at Niagara Falls Canada I got classic double rainbows, full circle rainbows and rainbow from the flood lights that light the falls up at night.
Greetings from North America,
Michael

Re: Gondelfahrt in den Gespaltenen Regenbogen
Hi Michael,
thanks for your reply. I just checked your post from Aug 30th on the Niagara fall bows. I think we should look whenever possible for the sub-horizon parts of rainbows. From the rainbow theorist's point of view this is something like the moon's backside - the almost unexplored second half of the rainbow world.
Canada seems to be a good place for rainbows... Never been there myself yet. The xenon lamp bows you saw are nice. I wonder if it would be possible to see sections of Minnaert's apple like in some lighthouse observations, or if they act more like single beams of sunlight due to the collimation.
Best regards,
Alex
