Hallo,

Well I have lucked out again for more pyramidal halos! In all 9,18,20,23,faint 35d halos and 18d and upper and lower 23d plate arcs.

Well, Michael,

as I wrote: you're the champion of pyramidals here! Another nice one. I like the well-developed plate(?) arcs. Four years ago, also on solstice day, I had my one and only pyramidals in Virginia (see my avatar and search the forum), which started at solar elevation of 58 degrees at least. Typically a pyramidal display, when it is on, lasts a while, so one can follow the development w.r. to solar elevation.

@ Elmar, Yes you are right about me being champion of pyramidal halos this one is one of the best I have photographed since 2009 my best halo year ever! I hope to get more like this and my dream pyramidal halo complex is all 6 od radii rings and most of their plate arc and they are sharp clear and well defined.

could you explain about the weather situation, maybe provide or link us to a U.S. weather map. AKM found that often a certain type of frontal system is likely to produce pyramidal halos.

I am not sure how to go about a link to a US weather map but I was on spaceweather.com and pyramidal halos were observed in Mason Ohio which is over 70 miles away and so it is nice that I was not the only one to get the halos but someone else got them too.
