The solar wind speed has returned to a fairly steady value around 450km/s from a high of 550km/s yesterday. The IMF field strength has decreased while Bz is fluctuationg close to zero, so the geomagnetic field is expected to remain quiet. Upon writing there are no LASCO images to determine whether a halo CME was observed in association with M2.6 flare this morning; however, an EIT wave and dimming suggest it is likely that one did occur. A Type II burst with speed ~1200km/s indicates that a CME arrival may be anticipated late Aug 22/early Aug 23. Further C-class flares expected from NOAA AR0798 (Catania 24) which retains the potential for further isolated M-class events. Upon writing the >10MeV proton flux seems to have peaked before reaching storm levels.
Viele Grüße
