no halo

Beitrag von janlameer » 21. Jan 2005, 01:09

(I copied this message on behalf of jan-h)

Hello all,

The images from Lasco C3 of the latest X flare seem to have a full halo.
But when i compare them to the images of the flare of 29-10-2003 the same effect arises around the center of the Lasco image. To my opinion, (and Jan Lameer's too) just an artifact of the Lasco's camera. It seems a Halo, but it's not. Its too steady, and it fades away as the proton contamination decreases.
Just compare these two sequences:

Nothing coming this way afterall?

Cheers,

Jan-h

Well, how much, how fast , remains the big question for us all.
But according the EPAM something is definitly coming out way.

Wieviel, wie schnell, bleibt die frage.
Aber laut EPAM (rampe) kommt sicher etwas auf uns zu

correction, halo indeed

Beitrag von janlameer » 21. Jan 2005, 17:23

I decided to take a shot and about how to make the Lasco C3 clearer.
If there is a halo visible, it should be slower and present in more frames than the fast specs right?
So i filtered the video with a motion blur, it blends the two adjacent frames into eachother, and because specs are never in the same place, they should become less. And they do.
Now we can see the full halo better. So i stand corrected :-)
The video you can find overhere:

(the mpg is less mb, so save bandwith)
