1,2X-Class Flare aus 691
allerdings "nur" impulsiv...auf jeden Fall sehr explosiv geworden diese Fleckengruppe...mal sehen was noch so kommt...

Major Solar Flare Alert
Issued: 17:10 UTC, 30 October 2004
Solar Terrestrial Dispatch
www.spacew.com
SYNOPSIS:
Active Region 10691 (691) has spawned two major solar flares and
multiple minor flares during the last 24 hours. The events have been
radio-rich across most of the spectrum, with 6 to 7 discrete Type II sweep
frequency events reported and at least one type IV. The first major event was
a relatively brief class X1.2/SF event, lasting 12 minutes. The second was a
double-peaking class M5.9 x-ray event at 16:33 UTC that lasted about 15 to 20
minutes (and is currently in decay). The first event was associated with a
weak Type II event (estimated shock velocity of near 985 km/sec). The
associated Type IV event was moderate in strength.
A mild proton enhancement at greater than 10 MeV (with a slight response
in the > 30 MeV proton flux) commenced after 05:30 UTC, which correponds to a
series of complex events between 00:48 UTC and 03:47 UTC during which there
were three minor to moderate Type II events with associated estimated shock
velocityes ranging from 975 to 1131 km/sec. We suspect this minor proton
enhancement is the result of shock-accelerated protons. Additional further
enhancements in proton densities may be observed over the next 24 hours as
additional shock fronts develop from ensuing activity in Region 691.
The majority of energetic flaring is occurring in leading spots where
positive polarity magnetic flux is colliding into and/or interacting with
emerging negative polarity flux immediately west of the leader spot. Until
this situation stabilizes, additional minor to major flare events are likely
to be observed with possible accompanying Earthward-directed coronal mass
ejections.
