Hallo nochmal!

Gerade kam noch eine zweite Mail hinterher.

Dear Bernhard,

Further to my last email, both the Blue and IR filters seem to agree on a peak magnitude of approx. -3.0 at ~0930 on 4/18. I get approx. -2.5 for both ~0330 and ~1530 on 4/18.
The DeepRed and Orange filter images saturated at peak and I couldn't get a value.
Within the next day or so I'll produce some data sets and a pretty plot or two...

Regards,
~~Karl

Hallo,

als Ergänzung noch eine Mail von Karl.

Subject: prelim. comet details

Hi all,

I've seen a few numbers being thrown around as to estimates of the
peak brightness of the comet, so I thought I'd share with you my
preliminary results.
I've done photometry on the 608x608 filtered images (blue, ir, deep
red and orange) and both the blue and ir give an approx peak magnitude of
-3.0 at ~0930 on 4/18.
I also got the following, either side of 0930:
4/18 ~0330 -2.5
4/18 ~1530 -2.5

I only looked at images in 6hr intervals, so there's nothing to say
that the comet didn't peak at, for example 1100. I just chose 0330,
0930, 1530 and 2130 images for the 16th-19th.
I've got more but I'll share them with you once I've done some number
crunching, plotted the 20th, and made some pretty pictures...

NOTE: the above values are not a final and definitive value, but I'll
be very surprised if they're out by more than +/- 0.1...

Email me with questions

~~Karl

unglaublicher Schweif

Beitrag von Ulrich Rieth » 21. Apr 2004, 07:28

Hallo!

Wahnsinn! Was muss das für ein Komet sein.
Gruß

Ulrich
