looks good, 4x5 inch feeling

Hi Mark ! I think your 3 color camera setup looks really good: open structucture so small things could be changed easily but no big changes because the structure is simple. Do you know the 4x5 inch feeling: putting so much effort in the trapping set up that the subject "walks into it" ? An...

no sighting Terscheling (53.3N 5.3E0

I didn't see them, probably due to (low horizon) cold air clouds that were over the Northsea, like last last night. The weak NLC's that I observed were also low over the horizon (1 - 3 degree) and only shortly visible, depending of the minus height of the sun. We're now having a nice and slow fight ...

weak NLC's 26/27-06 also observed from Terschelling

Hi Rainer !

I observed weak NLC's from 02:40 - 03:30 MEZT. They were strongest near 02:50. Their position was about at Azimut 015 - 025 and a height of aproximately 3 - 7 degrees above the horizon.

greetings, janL

simultanous pic NLC Terschelling-Helgoland

Hi Thorston !
I'm wondering at what azimut and height we both should point our camera's at, to photograph the same NLC's ? Have you got any idea ?
I'm at 53.3N 5.3E

NLC's also observed from Terschelling (53.3N 53.3E)

Hi ! I observed NLC's all night, with a minimum occurence near local midnight (about 01:30 MEZT = 00:30 UT) and best visibility near 03:10 MEZT (02:10 UT) with a height of about 25 degrees then. Since Tuesday 14 June I had four clear nights on the Terschelling Island and on three of those nights I o...

also seen from Terschelling

I've seen them all night from the island of Terschelling (53.3N 5.3E) At the beginning of the night there was more structure; wave-like in two directions. I didn't really photograph them because I was showing the Moon and Jupiter through a 15 cm telescope to passers-by on a small country road at the...

different filtering

Hi Mark ! As a thought, how about this: camera A = non filtered --> B&W luma signal camera B = cut of at 600 nm (or there about) --> blue + green signal camera C = yellow filter --> green + red signal A = B&W luma A-B = red A-C = blue A-[(A-B) + (A-C)] =green well, the idea is basically to g...

to Schotland

Yes, I've been playing with the idea of flying to Aberdeen; Ryan Air lands there.
In March, with high pressure systems nesting over northern Schotland and a well placed coronal hole you might see aurora quite often there, I think.

rather east west

Hi Andreas !

From what I saw in the Netherlands, the strongest substoming occurrred west of us, that is over Schotland.
There was an intensely bright storm there for about 15 minutes.

looking for running time code or clock

Hi all I've just begun scanning the first roll of four of the aurora time-lapse sequence that I shot last night. About 110 -120 frames between 19 and 20 hrs. local time, each exposed 20 seconds with the 16/3,5 fisheye, ISO 3200. Exposure is good and it looks like a nice sequence of aurora and moonli...

correction, halo indeed

I decided to take a shot and about how to make the Lasco C3 clearer. If there is a halo visible, it should be slower and present in more frames than the fast specs right? So i filtered the video with a motion blur, it blends the two adjacent frames into eachother, and because specs are never in the ...

no halo

(I copied this message on behalf of jan-h) Hello all, The images from Lasco C3 of the latest X flare seem to have a full halo. But when i compare them to the images of the flare of 29-10-2003 the same effect arises around the center of the Lasco image. To my opinion, (and Jan Lameer's too) just an a...
