Hello,
Around midday there were scattered patches of cirrus dotting the sky producing halos fragments. A rather large patch of cirrus generated an awesome halo display.
Common halos were:
22 degree ring
upper tangnet arc
parhelia
parhelic circle
rare halos were:
upper suncave parry
infralateral arcs
upper lowitz arc
lower lowitz arc
circular lowitz arc
This lasted for about 15 minutes but was very spectacular. The fisheye lense on my Nikon D-100 got most of the halos in the photos but the lowitz arcs were well-defined. I will send pics when I get home because right now I am with my grandma so I can't download my pics til I get home.
Todays display sure got 2004 off for a good start
Take care,
Michael

Halos for 2004
Marjorie,
I just got home less than a half and hour ago from work and I am quite anxious to analyze my halo pics.
Right now we are having some pretty bad winter weather right now.
Best,
Michael
